Last night at approximately 12:14 a.m., officers were called to 5022 ½ 4th Avenue in reference to possible child neglect.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that Wood County Home Confinement authorities had one of their clients, Ashley Nichole Berry, in custody. While alone, both children allegedly gained access to prescribed medications, cleaning chemicals, and knives among other items. Both children were allegedly found with numerous substances spread on their bodies.
The children were transported by ambulance to CCMC for evaluation and toxicology tests.
Berry was taken into custody and transported to headquarters where Child Protective Services conducted an interview. She was processed and placed in the Wood County Holding Center to await arraignment on two (2) felony counts of child neglect by a parent.
Berry was arraigned this morning in Wood County Magistrate Court and at the time of this release, has not been able to post a $40,000.00 bond.
If convicted, Berry could face from one (1) to five (5) years in prison on each charge.
