Parkersburg police detectives have arrested George Wilbur Hartness Jr. following an investigation into a south Parkersburg shooting that occurred yesterday.
A Criminal Complaint filed in Wood County Magistrate Court by Detective D.A. Moody alleges that on 5-17-13, the victim (Robert Taitt) was in a yard across from 4207 Wilson Street cutting grass on a riding mower. Hartness came to the front door of his residence and fired a pellet rifle in the direction of victim. The pellet struck the victim in his left side just missing his heart. Hartness has been upset with the victim in the past for blowing grass and rocks on his vehicle while mowing.
Hartness was processed at police headquarters on a felony charge of malicious wounding. He was arraigned in Wood County Magistrate Court and failed to post a $40,000.00 bond. He is currently in the North Central Regional Jail.
