The Parkersburg Police Department will conduct testing for the entry-level police officer on Saturday, May 4th. There are currently multiple existing vacancies.
Applications can be picked up at the Parkersburg Police Department or downloaded at www.parkersburgpolice.com. Applications must be returned or received in the mail no later than 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30th.
Basic qualifications are: Citizen of the United States, be between 18 and 40 at the time of application, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and have a valid driver’s license.
The physical ability standards set forth by the State of West Virginia are: 27 sit-ups in one minute, 18 push-ups in one minute, and 1.5 mile run completed in 15 minutes 20 seconds or less.
Veteran’s preference points will be awarded with submission of a DD-214 with the application. Applicants who are currently certified as an officer through the State of West Virginia will receive a $2,500.00 bonus payable upon the successful completion of a probationary period.
